The London Borough of Merton is probably most famous for hosting the Wimbledon Tennis event annually. Wimbledon is by far the best know tennis event in the calendar and is one of the four Grand Slams. Activities in Merton
Luckily for England, Scotland remained in Britain after their referendum and we can still cheer on Andy Murray. In 2013 Murray managed to snatch victory from the ever brilliant Novak Djokovic, this ended Britain’s long wait for a title since Fred Perry’s 1936 victory.
If you fancy getting involved in the sport yourself, rather than watching then there is a whole magnitude of venues available in Merton. Particularly if you head down to Wimbledon Park or Wimbledon Common.
