The New Malden sportsground, or “Berrylands” as it’s known by the students, spreads itself generously across eleven hectares of playing fields. The Grounds are nestled amongst the peaceful residential area of Kingston and binded on one side by the Hogsmill River. The ground packs in no fewer than 4 football pitches, 2 rugby pitches, 1 lacrosse pitch and 2 all-weather courts for netball and tennis. When summer rolls in, so too do 2 full sized cricket pitches, summer football and everyone’s favourite; rounders.
The grounds are taken advantage of by the AFC Wimbledon, whose 1st team train here and junior home matches reside here, 2 alumni football teams, 2 local rugby teams, the Malden Bowmen and Kingstonian Cricket Club and many local schools. A number of dance, pilates and fitness classes are held in the Pavilion.
Getting there: From Waterloo, take the train to Berrylands. Walk up the hill from the station before taking a left at the roundabout. Continue down the road until you reach another roundabout. Follow the pathway across the bridge to the next road. Take a right, where the sports ground will be the first entrance on your right.
