Wandsworth is pleasant borough of South West London covering the leafy neighbourhoods of Battersea, Putney, Earlsfield and Tooting (known as the new 'Shoreditch'). It his home to many famous Wandsworth residents such as Louis Theroux, Ainsley Harriott, Jack Dee and Kevin Pietersen. It has some fabulous parks and open spaces with Battersea Park easily being the pick of the bunch. Battersea Park has two 11 a side floodlit astroturf pitches which an be split into smaller lots for 5 a side and 8 a side football. There is also the Millenium Arena with an athletics track, gym, floodlit tennis courts and cricket nets. A more recent addition is Go Ape which has tree-based activities for kids and adults.

Read MoreAnother park in Wandsworth worthy of mention is Wandsworth Common, with six tennis courts, several grass football pitches, cricket pitches and a running trail with obstacles. Located further towards Putney is Wandsworth Park which has a single tennis court, football pitches and cricket pitches in the summer. A personal favourite is the Wandle Recreation Ground which is near to King George's Park and has four 5 a side football pitches, a gym and sports hall. King George's Park has 10 tennis courts and a bowling green for hire as well as grass space for touch and tag rugby in Wandsworth.
Examples of Wandsworth Schools with community lettings include Chestnut Grove School with a sports hall (volleyball, badminton) and 7 a side 3G football pitch. Burntwood School has some tennis and netball courts whilst Putney High School offers a sports hall and multi-use games areas. One of the best leisure centres in Wandsworth is Putney Leisure Centre which has three swimming pools and several diving boards as well as squash courts, a gym and a sports hall. Other notable Wandsworth leisure centres are Balham Leisure Centre with squash courts, an indoor swimming pool and gym and the much larger Tooting Leisure Centre with squash courts, two swimming pools, a gym and large sports hall. To get active in Wandsworth is easy, it's one of the best London boroughs for sports opportunities.
