The triple threat of the sporting races, the Triathlon is a relatively new phenomenon, only appearing for the first time in the 1970s. Yes, the decade that brought us Abba, lava lamps and flower power also brought us sporting power in the form of the Triathlon. The original race, held at the San Diego Track Club, consisted of a 10km run, an 8km cycle and a 500 metre swim, but today the event can be made up of varying lengths. This means that the Triathlon is an ideal race goal for anyone, as they can choose a competition standard to suit their age and fitness levels.
