The Wandsworth Common Football Pitches are not conducive to Premiership Football but are cheap for London 11 a side football pitches
Generally speaking, the 10
Wandsworth Common Football Pitches in South London are extremely popular which unfortunately means that their playing surfaces hinder fast-flowing, expressive grassroots football. Sloppy dog turds are certainly a hazard to look out for as are puddles, troughs, peaks and the occasional patch of sand.
Grass almost comes as a surprise and be careful when shooting at goal as the chances of hitting the railway, road, duck pond or a yummy mummy are very high. To be honest, the
football pitches on Wandsworth Common resemble more of a 1st World War battle ground than a crisp, flat and beautifully prepared lawn.

There are 10 football pitches available in Wandsworth Common, although they're condition has little to be desired
That said, you probably cannot really expect more from
London park football pitches which are used religiously every Saturday and Sunday throughout the football season (and as dog toilets at other times).
Wandsworth Common pitch hire is usually around £65 per match (less for juniors) and you'll need to provide your own goal nets and flags.
For
Wandsworth Common pitch booking you'll need to call the Wandsworth Borough Council sports bookings team and send them the appropriate booking forms stating your purpose and desired dates (allow about 3 months for this...).
Wandsworth Common Changing Rooms
Aside from the worn pitch conditions and arduous booking system,
Wandsworth Common changing rooms are also in fairly poor shape - we didn't even bother with a shower when we played as there was no hot water...and they are rustic to say the least. Wandsworth Prison lies adjacent to the common and we're fairly sure they've used the same builder.
Pubs and Bars near Wandsworth Common

The Wandsworth Common café is situated in the centre of the park, close the changing rooms and is perfect for a post match drink
There is an excellent cafe on
Wandsworth Common for a post-match beer and food located right next door to the tennis courts and bowling green.
Otherwise try the County Arms pub on Trinity Road which is also nearby and has a good selection of ales on tap (or Coca Cola). A personal favourite of ours is the Hope Pub, in the South Eastern corner of the park, a stone's throw away from Wandsworth Common Station.
Parking near Wandsworth Common
Parking is available around the perimeter of Wandsworth Common on a pay and display basis (free on Sundays), although it is worth noting that there isn't a main
Wandsworth Common Car Park. You can park for free fairly near the tennis courts (Nicosia Road) and along a bridge alongside a mock French Chateau towards the West of Wandsworth Common.
