Football Pitch Size varies across the Premier League and beyond It is a common misconception that that the size of a football pitch must always be the same size. We completely dispel this myth as it actually varies across all levels of the game whether at your local recreation ground or throughout the English Premier League. At grassroots level, football pitch dimensions are about as random as Boris Johnson's haircut. One week you'll find yourself wedged in what feels like someone's back garden, the week after roaming the Siberian Tundra. Football pitch size consistency is certainly neither required nor anything you can expect. So the burning question is, what is the correct size of a football pitch and how does it vary? Well as shown by the hand drawn diagram (see top right), the actual football pitch length can vary enormously from 100 yards (91.44m) to 130 yards (118.9m). Furthermore the width of a football pitch can vary by 100% from just 50 (45.7m) to 100 yards (91.44m). So if you think that Tottenham's pitch at White Hart Lane appears to be small and must need a trip to Specsavers, in actual fact your eyes are propbably fine. Sizes of Premiership football pitches do differ, but not by as much as you might think. Is there are a correlation between the success of the team and the pitch size? We'll let you decide...
