Football Pitch Size varies across the Premier League and beyond Unbeknownst to many, the size of a football pitch varies across all levels of the game whether at grassroots or even throughout the English Premier League. At grassroots level, you will find that dimensions of football pitches are a complete lottery. One week you'll find yourself wedged in what feels like someone's front lawn, the next week wandering a great African Savannah. Football pitch size consistency is certainly not something that you can expect or will ever get. So what exactly is the correct size of a football pitch and by how much does the size vary?
Well as shown by our lovely diagram on the right, the actual length of a football pitch can vary enormously from 100 yards (91.44m) to 130 yards (118.9m). Furthermore football pitch width can vary by 100% from just 50 (45.7m) to 100 yards (91.44m). So if you think that West Ham's pitch at Upton Park appears to be small, but aren't sure whether you need a new pair of glasses, the answer is your eyesight is perfectly correct. The fact of the matter is that sizes of Premiership football pitches do differ, but not by as much as you might think. Is there are a correlation between the success of the team and the pitch size? We'll let you decide...
