Five New Hobbies To Try In 2015

You might have ditched the New Year?s resolution already but there?s no reason why you can?t still pick up a new sporting hobby in 2015. Taking up a new hobby can be an expensive and time consuming business, so try your hand at a few beginners classes before settling on something you plan on investing your time (and money) in.

Here are some suggestions for fun hobbies to pick up this year:

Golf

Golf

Golf isn't just a hobby for the retired and rich. It?s now a sport that is accessible to everyone and more and more young people are getting involved. However, you might be a dab hand at the game with a Wii remote, but it?s a whole different ball game out on the green.

Get down to a driving range and test your skill first, before investing in a membership and all the gear from a specialist such as Snainton Golf. You will usually end up paying around £2 for 50 balls ? plus club hire - to have a go on a driving range. It?s also not a bad idea to try out a mini golf course to practice your putting, you can even make it a fun day out and get family and friends involved too.

Footy Golf

If perfecting your drive and swing doesn?t sound like your sort of thing then why not use your feet instead? Foot golf is a relatively new sport but one that is quickly catching on in the UK with courses and pitches popping up all over the country. The aim of the game is, you?ve guessed it, to get your football into the hole using your feet and as few shots as possible. There?s no expensive equipment involved, although some people do like to pop on some Pringle knitwear whilst they play, just your feet, a ball and a course.

Jogging

Jogging

The most inexpensive hobby on the list, jogging doesn't require any fancy equipment, booking out pitches or even playing with other people. You can simply pull on some comfortable clothes, trainers and get jogging at your own pace around your local area.

There are plenty of apps out there that you can download on your smartphone for free, which track your distance run and calories burnt and keep you motivated each time you step outside in your running shoes.

Tough Mudder training

Tough Mudder

Hobbies with an end goal are the ones people tend to keep up, so this year why not make training for and completing an intense obstacle course your side activity? Tough Mudder is an event many people take one look at then run scared ? and for good reason.

The average course involves plenty of mud, walls to scale, deep trenches to swim through, icy water and sometimes mildly electrified barriers to avoid. But if you make your hobby this year to take on an intense Tough Mudder training regime and get fighting fit for the next event you?ll be laughing in the face of the intense course. You can find workouts on the website or sign up for the gym and attend every circuit training, spin and boxercise class there is, to prepare accordingly.

Ten pin bowling

While not as intense as a Tough Mudder workout, bowling is still considered a skilled sport and there are those out there who make a great hobby out of smashing down those pins. Swap your casual Saturday nights throwing the ball down the lane for planned and strategised games several times a week. You can find a club at most alleys in the UK, who meet regularly to play in teams based on skill and improve their techniques. You?ll soon be buying your own shoes, a ball and donning a snazzy team shirt.

We?re sure one of these fun sports has taken your fancy  - or maybe you want to have a go at them all - if so, now is the perfect time to get out there and try something new for 2015.
