Brimming with teams, pitches, successful academies and the Nottingham Forest F.C. playing in the Championship, Nottingham is most definitely a football city. You may not have been picked by Marinakis to play for his team of mythical foresters at the magical forest, but there are plenty of other, more down to earth, venues in Nottingham that will gladly accept your muddy studs on their lawn.

These grounds should be your first stop for a large game of footie. Play on the full sized 3G surface or opt to hire it in half or quarters. Alternatively there is a full sized sand pitch which is also available in sections. The pitches are fully floodlit and there are clean changing rooms on site. The pitches cost £100 for a full sized hire.

Run by the Nottingham City Council, this is a great shout for both friendly and competitive games. With 3 full-sized grass pitches, and 2 junior pitches, the village can accommodate a variety of team sizes. If weather isn’t on your side, the sports centre also has a 10 court sports hall which can be used for training or casual games. The entire centre, along with its pitches, underwent a £16million regeneration in 2015 so is in tip top shape. Parking spaces, bike racks, lockers and changing facilities mean your visit will be hassle free, but if your game does end in stress and exhaustion, you can relax and refuel at the Bean Culture Cafe.
